Learn the basics of studio production while creating your own songs. Participants learn how to record guitar, bass, drums, keys and vocals in using state of the art digital recording applications.

Through recording tracks as an ensemble and also through individual overdubs, Young Artists learn how to use microphones, compression, EQ, and a mixing board to capture their performances. Students explore different techniques from natural room acoustics to electronic effects in order to creatively enhance the music. The foundation developed in this class can be applied to any recording medium, from iPads to a comprehensive recording studio.

About our program

About our programs: Young Artists’ days are comprised of both classroom and field/location work: lectures and critiques, demonstrations, shooting, editing, writing, computer workflow and studio work, depending on the workshop. All instructors are talented industry professionals as well as experienced educators, and each works with a teaching assistant, providing additional support for their class. The students are busy all day and into the mid-evening hours, attending presentations from visiting master faculty. All Young Artists reside on our campus.
